Stray Arrows: Kris Jenkins Wants Out… Again

by Chiefs

Kris Jenkins (Charlotte Observer)ChiefStock? Trade rumors about Kris Jenkins and the Chiefs again (yes, another Jenkins)? What is this, early 2007 all over again?

Kris Jenkins is apparently out there again, looking for a new contract. Keep in mind that Julius Peppers and the rest of his defensive linemates struggled this year, not making things any easier for Jenkins. And when you recall how Alfonso Boone disappeared in the second half of the season — which is extremely hard for a 320-pound man to do — you’ll also recall that we still need a defensive tackle. Here’s a little more info:

Although Carolina Panther defensive tackle Kris Jenkins is signed through 2009, he’s not certain he wants to return next season — or whether the Panthers want him back.

“I’m not that high up the totem pole to make my own decisions,” he said Wednesday.

Jenkins was a subject of trade discussions during last offseason, when he declined to participate in voluntary workouts here, choosing to condition at his Maryland home instead. Now, after a solid season, he’s torn between the idea of staying and playing elsewhere.

I wouldn't go so far as to call the brother fat, I mean he got a weight problem. What's the ______ gonna do? He's a defensive tackle. - Jules

Had to quote Pulp Fiction there when it popped into my head. Um, yes, he did have some weight issues in the past. I believe the Panthers made a bigger deal of him training back in Maryland than they really should have. By all accounts, he was in pretty good shape and was one of the Panthers' better players this year.

Didn't Jenkins have weight issues?
