Kendall Gammon has gotten some press for accepting a job at his alma mater, Pittsburgh State. His new job title might be one of my all-time favorites — major gifts officer. I love it so much I will give you the full title, which is “major gifts officer for the department of intercollegiate athletics.” This will be Gammon’s first time being involved with the university. Although he had a brother-in-law in the athletic department that passed away last summer. Gammon seems very pleased to be doing something other than snapping a football.
“I’ve snapped a ball between my legs for the last 15 years,” he said. “It afforded me a lot of things and it was great, but it wasn’t the most cerebral of things to do. I’m not knocking it, but this is a new chapter in my life and one that I’m excited about.”
“It’s the perfect fit for me at this time and I look forward to a long relationship with PSU,” Gammon said. “For me, it’s somewhat of a dream job because I can live, breathe and eat PSU.”
Football coach Chuck Boyles had this to say about Gammon and his new title.
“What a great find for us,” he said. “He’ll be a major gift identifier for us.”
“While the title has to do with intercollegiate athletics, it’s not just about that,” he said. “It’s about the university as a whole.”
