Stray Arrows: Herm Edwards, Next UCLA coach?

by Chiefs

UCLA HelmetHerm Edwards is back in New York, a place he left abruptly. Now there are rumors that he could be headed to UCLA to become their next head coach. This was his latest response:

He laughed at the rumor that he is a candidate to become the next U.C.L.A. coach. “I’ve still got a lot of work to do here,” Edwards said.

I am glad he feels that he still has a lot of work to do. Hopefully, most of that work will be done this offseason so we can comeback a new team in ’08. I think that bringing in a new offensive coordinator would be a good great start. I think the new O.C. needs to have experience and doesn’t have to learn on the job (like Herm said Solari had to do). Since Herm is not an offensive coach he needs someone with experience as an offensive coordinator. This is an obvious decision that needs to happen quickly after the season.
