Zach your correct on holmes... as he was and has been on our cap room...sense he first arrived here in KC, although the league allows his time off as a different $ figuring into the cap... now that he has retired , that doesnt change anything... cap is still cap.

Jon, the running bonus is for that season, so we would definitely get hit with that. I would also believe that we would get hit with a prorated amount of their signing bonus depending on how much is still owed.

NFL numbers are very complicated and teams also give out limited information about their contracts. As we all know King Carl loves keeping his contracts a secret.

Priest Holmes retiring I think will not hurt our cap for the next season. The only thing that could hurt our cap I believe would be a bonus, but I would like to find out more about this.

Zach, that's very interesting. Do you know if the "running bonus" refers to the cap hit we would take on for cutting any of these players early? Because if that's true, shouldn't that number also include prorated signing bonus money? I would imagine that if Law has about a $1 million difference between his salary and his actual cap hit that that $1 million represents the 2008 portion of the prorated signing bonus? These numbers seem to get more complicated every day but I do think it's fascinating to figure out how much we can save by cutting players. I'm also curious about how Priest Holmes and company affect our payroll for next year.

With the salary cap, it's so hard to evaulate how to manage when to let older players go. The players I see as locks to be gone are Bell and Reed. Also, I can't see keeping both Law and Surtain. I have been playing with ideas in my head. If Adam and Zac allow me, I may have something for everyone to shoot at soon.

Time to clean house!! All of them should go. When your record is as bad as ours, we need to clean house. Do you really think that any of these guys has anything left? They have old legs!

Bell & Surtain - good as goneWesley - could go either wayKennison & Law - keep, even though Law is pretty expensive. How could we find 2 new starting corners in the same year when O-line needs to be the priority in the draft and free agency. Asante Samuel is probably too expensive, an remember, a player has to WANT to come to Kansas City.

I think all of those players above should go. We don't need their services. I love Eddie and think he is a great guy, but I think it is time to move on.
