A Quick Note on DeAngelo, Herm and the Cover 2

I wouldn't mind going after another defensive tackle. We still need help there. I do agree that we should build our O-line mostly through the draft, though. The only guy out there that's worth big bucks is Faneca. I expect Flozell to re-sign. Gross, Starks and Womack are options, too, as long as the price is right.

I'm all for giving Hall an offer. He fits a need, he's still young, and if we get him we can cut Ty Law and essentially be paying him the same amount that we paid Ty Law. I think we would be in better position in the draft to go after offensive linemen first round and then maybe another corner in the second round. Just as long as we don't pull multiple panic free agent signings like the Bell, Knight, and Surtain (it was a sign-and-trade I know)spree I think we will be fine. Each season sign one great free agent that addresses a need and then build the rest through the draft.  

Good stuff, Jason. I agree about Hall. And King Carl will get pushed. The real question is if it will be a push to put together a playoff team again, or a push out the door. I think it would be advantageous to keep him. He and Carl have really been working the draft for the most part, and he has more experience than anyone wooing free agents. We shall see. It's up to Clark, I guess.

Agree, We will not go after the number 1 man at cb in the offseason, we never do.  That leaves us DeAngelo because Samuel would be top notch.  I would not object to either of these two but will we actually give up any money for them?  With younger ownership now it may make a difference although Lamar will be missed, maybe the younger push on Carl after a horrible year will do the team some good.

DeAngelo will be a free agent as well, but I like this idea. Hell, we'll make a poster for him, too. Just give me a young star corner. The name doesn't matter!

I say we brake the bank and get Hall and Samuel...man that would just be ridiculous (though I bet we'd have a top 5 defense then)

Adam, I live in ATL and I've watched D. Hall here with the Falcons.  Although he's still a little rough around the edges and doesn't live up to his OWN hype, he would definitely be an upgrade.  On that same note, what about Asante Samuel?  He's now guaranteed to be a free agent with the Patriots winning their 12th game, and other than a boatload of cash, we wouldn't give up anything to get him.  What do you think?

Adam, I agree that DeAngelo is a good, potentially great, player. And believe me, I'd love to have him on our team if the price is right. I just have a suspicion that the price will be wrong, even dead wrong. I'm feeling your frustration though fellow Adam, because I am fighting not to throw things at the TV when Law slips on a play or Surtain gets burnt!Maybe we should just draft two cornerbacks with starting potential. We have tons of picks, enough to where we can focus on our offensive line, too. Think about it, Herm drafted two safeties his first year, two defensive linemen his second year. Two CBs his third year?... and like 5 new offensive linemen to boot!
