Post Game Quotes
“You’ve got to give the Raiders some credit. In the second half they ran the ball on us and made a couple of big plays in the third quarter that really got the momentum going for them.”We couldn’t stop them from running. I felt that on the sideline and that’s why I decided that in field goal range we needed to get seven [points]. Three points wasn’t going to help us just by the way the game was being played. Went for it and didn’t make it. Took a time out first to decide what I was going to do. Then we decided we were going to go for it and then the call came down [from the coaching booth] that the spot might not be right. At that point in time, I challenged the spot just to make sure if it was a little bit closer. The got the ball back and we couldn’t stop them.
“They made a couple of big pass plays but other than that they ran the ball on us and when you can do that you can’t get the ball back. It was a close game but we couldn’t make the plays at the end. We got in the Red Zone twice: one time missed a field goal and another time went backwards and didn’t get any points.”
Herm on the challenge of the spot and were you clear if you lost the challenge you would lose a second time out (One of the worst moves I have seen from a coaching staff):
“Yeah, and that was fine with me at that point. I just figured we were going to make the first down and if I had had five timeouts it wouldn’t matter. We couldn’t get the ball back. They ran the ball and we couldn’t stop them at the end of the day.”
Brodie Croyle, on agreement in going for it on fourth-and-one:
“Yeah, yeah. We’re going for the win and any decision [the head coach] makes we’re behind it. As soon as we didn’t get it on third [down] I pretty much knew we were going to go for it on fourth down. It was no surprise to me.”
Brodie Croyle, on getting rhythm in the second half:
“We just never got in a passing rhythm in the first half. We ran the ball so well on them. We did some good things the second half but we didn’t do enough. I’m learning. It’s a totally different defense than I faced last week. This is a man-team. They just lined up and beat us. The coaches made some good halftime adjustments and we went out there and moved the ball a little bit.”
