Priest Holmes to Retire

Priest Holmes is Back? (NFL.com)(RUMOR ALERT: Right now this is a rumor, but we will keep you up-to-date once we hear anything official)

Adam Schefter, from NFL Network, is reporting that Priest Holmes is expected to retire after the latest injury he sustained. It is expected that Priest could even announce his retirement as early as noon today.

One source familiar with the situation said Tuesday night: “He is retiring for sure. Noon press conference on Wednesday.”

A Chiefs spokesman has denied that this is true and said that Priest is still considering his options (or the person should have said getting a second or third opinion). Another league source had this to say:

Holmes could make an announcement on his plans as early as Wednesday. “He’s sorting through some things, but is pretty close now to a resolution,” a source said. “It won’t drag out.

I imagine that Priest is considering all of his options, while getting many opinions. If it is true that he re-injured the same part of his neck, then I would hope he retires. We all love Priest, but I would like to see him remain a healthy young man rather than have to rely on his pension and medical attention the rest of his life. As fans we can be selfish, but I am sure Priest will make the best decision for him and his family.

It is sad to see Holmes leave yet again, but it is best for him to leave.  I would hate to see him get injured to the point where he is paralyzed or worse.  He is a great running back that will be remembered for a long time by Chiefs fans.  I'm glad that I got to see him one more time.  Good luck Priest and thanks for giving it your all.

  2. Crane says:

I hate to say it, but I think our Chiefs need to sign LaMont Jordan, who is on the outs in Oakland…LaMont Jordan, RB OAKNews: According to the San Francisco Chronicle,
Raiders RB Lamont Jordan told team officials Monday he wanted out after
being benched the past two games. If the Raiders decide to release
Jordan, they won't have to look far for a replacement. They must
    activate rookie RB Michael Bush
by 1 p.m. Wednesday or place him on the season-ending injured reserve
list. Coach Lane Kiffin said the team hasn't decided what to do with
Bush, but if it wants to add him to the 53-man roster, a current player
must go – and Jordan has already raised his hand for that.Analysis: Jordan's
request came after being put on the inactive list for Sunday's 29-22
loss at Minnesota – the first time he did not suit up when healthy in
three seasons with Oakland, including his 1,000-yard debut in 2005. He
started the first four games of this season before injuring his back at
Miami, where he had 15 carries for 74 yards in the first half. At the
time, he ranked among the top five in NFL rushing. Jordan started the
next two games, but with 71 yards on 29 carries, lost his starting job
to Justin Fargas. Jordan followed that with 16 carries for 26 yards as
a backup the next two games. He likely will not play against the Chiefs
if he's still with Oakland, so continue to monitor what develops.

  3. Zach says:

Crane there is no way that the Raiders would release Lamont Jordan and allow us to pick him up. Al Davis would rather lose and than let us pick him up. Just look at when they woulndt cut Dominic Rhodes because Denver and Tampa Bay needed a RB.

  4. Zach says:

Raiders kept Bush off their 53-man roster, so this offcially ends any speculation of getting a Raiders back.

Kiffin even said that they didn't want Denver or Kansas City to acquire them for one of the reasons not putting Bush on the 53.
