L.J. Out, Priest Likely to Start
The Chiefs have announced that Larry Johnson will most likely not be able to go this weekend against their divisional rival the Denver Broncos. This means that Priest Holmes will likely get the start over rookie Kolby Smith. Priest hasn’t started a game since October 30, 2005. Herm Edwards has already said that Priest wouldn’t get more than 15 touches a game, but he might have to change his mind now. Kolby Smith will still see plenty of action and probably split carries with Priest. This is not good news for a Chiefs offense that is already struggling.
“It will be difficult for him to play this week,” Edwards said after getting preliminary results from a foot/ankle sprain Johnson sustained in last Sunday’s 33-22 loss to Green Bay. “He’s got a swollen foot … that’s not good.”
