I promised some smack talk today, so here it is. We’re just getting started, too…
Green Bay Packers strong safety Atari Bigby got four penalties last night while getting eaten alive by tight ends Daniel Graham and Tony Scheffler. That being said, what is Tony Gonzalez going to do to the 5-foot-11 second-year player/Rastafarian? I doubt that third-year free safety Nick Collins — who’s also 5-foot-11 — can or will fare any better, though.
Then there are outside linebackers A.J. “Cromagnum Man” Hawk and Brady Poppinga. Yeah, like they can really run with Tony G. Besides, Poppinga is 6-foot-3 and Hawk is only 6-foot-1. Gonzalez still has a decisive height advantage over both linebackers.
We’ll have to wait and see how the Packers try to cover Gonzalez on Sunday. They could even use Charles Woodsen on him and put Al Harris on Dwayne Bowe (that’s probably what I’d do), or vice versa. Both of the Packs’ talented corners stand 6-foot-1, so that could be an option. For now, this seems like a major mismatch that the Chiefs will look to exploit on Sunday. Expect Tony G to have one of his best games of the season. Jeff Webb could also benefit if D-Bo and Gonzalez draw Harris and Woodsen.
