Wow. A 79- and an 82-yard touchdown pass in the same game? If Brett Favre can toast “Chump” Bailey and “Fly By” Bly like that, I shudder at the thought of what he might do to Pat Surtain and Ty Law. Hopefully, the cover 2 defense will keep both of our ancient corners from getting toasted. I suppose John Lynch was out as well. The other glaring thing that I noticed was how much freakin’ time Favre had back there. I think he could of read his wife Deanna’s new book a couple of those times.
While Denver has absolutely no pass rush at all, Jared Allen and his Chiefs teammates will be after No. 4 all day long come this Sunday. In fact, I’m pretty sure the One Man Gang will be hyped out of his mind to play against Favre, considering he’s basically called him his idol. All I know is that if you don’t bring heat at Favre all day, then sooner or later you see him sprinting down the field doing the No. 1 sign — probably more than once, too. I’m more than confident that Gunther Cunningham will find ways to get to him. Just as Favre isn’t afraid to sling it, Gun isn’t afraid to send the house.
The final result couldn’t have been much better for us either. The Packers get a huge road win, and at 6-1 have a full game lead on the 5-2 Detroit Lions. The Denver Broncos, on the other hand, are 3-4 and three last-second field goals away from being the Miami Dolphins. Seriously, that defense is horribly overrated and their offense can’t score points. I have a feeling that the Donks’ season is about to go into an out-of-control downward spiral, I really do. Now they get the 5-2 Lions on the road. As the Chicago Bears found out the hard way last Sunday, Jon Kitna’s Silver and Blue are no longer cowardly. I could easily see the Broncos limping into Arrowhead on November 11 with a 3-5 record.
On a personal note, I always enjoy the hell out of any game where the Broncos and their fans get their hearts crushed. Man, this on top of the Red Sox getting the brooms out. Honestly, it’s hard not to laugh. I was laughing, actually, when Favre hit Greg Jennings for the game-winning TD. I know, I know — I’m a sick bastard. It’s just nice to see Denver fans get some rotten luck for once after all of those Jason Elam miracles (they got another one tonight just to force overtime).
Even though things are lining up for the Chiefs, the Packers won’t be an easy win. Favre’s arm will always keep them in games. Know that. Still, for tonight at least, I just want to enjoy both the old man’s triumph and the Donks’ misery. We’ll both get to the challenge that lies before us and start talking smack on the Pack tomorrow.
