That is right Chiefs Fans, we have both of our All-Pro running backs together again. The Chiefs placed Priest Holmes on the 53-man active roster today and he will be uniform tomorrow against the Raiders. I guess that West Coast ocean breeze helped Herm make his decision.
“I like sleeping on thoughts like this,” Edwards said before the club departed for Oakland. “I’ve got another day. I think better when I’m on the West Coast … the ocean, the breeze, we’ll figure it out.”
The KC Star is reporting that he will back up Larry Johnson, so Priest is one step closer to getting the Arrowhead Addict apology post. This is a remarkable day, one that shows you how committed Priest has been during this entire process. The Chiefs did not have to move anyone off of the 53-man roster, because they had an open spot from the Michael Bennett trade. Priest has still not had any “real” contact and Herm Edwards will still have to make the decision if he thinks Priest should play this week.
“In my opinion, he’s about as good as he’s going to get,” said Chiefs coach Herm Edwards. “The only thing you don’t know is when he gets tackled and hits the ground, and can he hold on to the football? He hasn’t had any contact … he’s been knocked around in practice, but he hasn’t had any contact. He’s done everything you can do except play.”
Priest is concerned about his first carry, but can’t wait to score his first touchdown since being injured.
“The most exciting thing will be my first touchdown,” said Holmes, whose NFL record of 27 touchdowns in 2003 has since been broken. “That’s what I’m excited about. Not so much the first run, because I think that the first run could come on a play where there is a nine-man blitz and they get me for a loss of 2.
“That possibly could happen, or it could be a 50-yard run. Any of those things can happen, but what is going to be exciting is my first touchdown.”
Remember Chiefs fans, this is not the offensive line that Priest ran behind, and not the same Priest. Hopefully, he can give Larry a breather and help us out when we need a change-of-pace back or third down back (though I am not sure how good of a blocker he will be with his latest neck injury).

I am really glad that Holmes is finally back. Hopefully it will put some fire under LJ and he will pick it up a little. I'm just disappointed in the output that LJ has given. I know the O line is not what it used to be, but come on, he has to do a little better.
