The Boomer Grigsby Show: L.J. Breaks the Silence

by Chiefs

“If there’s anyone who’s earned a contract, it’s Larry Johnson” – Boomer Grigsby

The Boomer Grigsby Show (WPI)You won’t want to miss the latest edition of The Boomer Grigsby Show. Not only do we get two folk heroes — Bobby Sippio and Boomer Grigsby — on one show, we also get Larry Johnson. That’s right — L.J. showed up and finally talked about what’s going on with him.

The Sippio interview is fantastic. Here’s my question, though: If he has the “second-best hands on the team,” then why isn’t he playing ahead of Samie “Hands of Stone” Parker? With both Eddie Kennison and Samie Parker now hurting, hopefully we’ll see Sippio play some offense soon.

Both Bobby and Boomer also said that a certain No. 31 looked awfully good in practice today.

And that’s exactly when L.J. walked in. My favorite L.J. quote:

“I was in the huddle and Boomer said spike it, so I spiked it.”

When asked about his demeanor, he just said that the media paints him wrongly, and that he’s just a perfectionist. When asked about Priest Holmes, he basically said that he was more excited about seeing Sippio lining across the field from his cousin Dwayne Bowe. Can’t say that I blame him, but, personally, I am excited to see Priest suit up and play on Sundays. As far as L.J.’s treatment of the media, he said he talks when he feels like talking. I think they hit the nail on the head when they said he unfairly constantly gets compared to Holmes and his personality. They also chatted about the offensive line, Jared Allen and Boom’s style (L.J. compared him to Charlie Sheen in Major League), the Raiders and the AFC West.

And I love how Boom has L.J.’s back. He knows a fullback’s job is a 24-7 one. Actually, the whole gang had his back. Here’s my thing, I think L.J. needs to talk to some P.R. guys to help him turn the K.C fans and media. No offense, but collectively we aren’t the most open-minded group, especially when it comes to a tatted-up East Coast running back who hangs out with rappers and is a little too demonstrative on the field when he gets upset. He’d be fine in New York, but he needs to remember that this isn’t New York. He also just has to remember that he’s the team’s biggest star and highest-paid player, which makes him a leader whether he wants to be one or not.

Anyway, the show was extremely interesting. Absolutely can’t miss for Chiefs fans. especially Boomer’s “diamond cutter” comment.
