His problems may have been solved, but after getting in that much trouble, he needed to prove that he could stay out of trouble AND play great football over a longer period of time. Even Darryl Strawberry and Doc Gooden could stay clean for awhile here and there. These guys want to get paid, so I don't blame Carl for protecting himself and his franchise.

As for the fans and the media, as someone who both loves and represents (unofficially, of course) the Chiefs, I feel it is my duty to watch out for the Chiefs' best interests and speak my mind. Signing Jared, aka One Man Gang, before the season wasn't a good move. I think he needed a bigger wake-up call than his old man could supply, and he got that from King Carl. Now, everybody is on the same page and worst-case scenario is we slap the franchise tag on him. The way he's playing, hey, he deserves that kind of money anyway.

This is going to work out well for both sides.

And, yes, he is just as important. As is Donnie, who's been the defense's Tony G thus far. Old reliable.

I've said this before, Allen had solved his problems well before he
ever asked for his money... anyone who says other wise ... only sees
things thru the media... and not from a personal view...(King Carl,
only used that to keep from paying him). when Allens father stepped in
, he basically kicked his but, literally. He set him up with a live in
assistant, who even drives him around now. MR. Allen doesnt need to
prove to us fans a single thing... he is prooving his abilities to the
team who signs him ! If King Carl wanted to save us fans and the CHIEFS
some money he would sign MR Allen before the contract is over... ahla
MR. LJs' contract ext. to me I thought of signing Allen as I saw
signing LJ... wait till your contract is up then get your money...
unless both sides wish to agree they want to keep on the same side as a
team. But as people can see, to our defence Allen is just as important
as LJ.
