Seriously, what the eff was up with Kansas City Chiefs fans doing the wave at Arrowhead during a pivotal late-game drive for the offense? I never want to see that happen again. I routinely defend us being the best fans in the league, but I won’t be able to continue doing so if we keep flapping our arms up like a bunch of drunken buffoons during crucial game stretches. Screw Nick Lachey, maybe this was why Larry Johnson was so mad. It sure as hell pissed me off. I’m just glad I wasn’t there, this way I don’t have to call myself part of that nonsense.
If we must do the wave, can’t we at least save it for a blowout game we are winning? Like that Falcons game where we scored eight rushing TDs or something? I agree with Bob Gretz on this one. C’mon, Chiefs fans — we’re better than that!

Sorry, but I gotta disagree. When you're up by 10 points in the 4th quarter and you continue to allow your overpriced halfback to run up the middle of a decimated offensive line while the defense shows something that can only be described as a 15-man front just so you can stick to the meaningless cliche that "I trust our defense to hold them," the least amount of irresponsibility goes to the fans. For $70 a ticket, I'm going to enjoy whatever the hell I want. I saw the penalty (delay of game or false start, can't remember) that we committed during the wave, and my first thought was "FOCUS!" How bad do you think the Bengals' offense had it all day? Or next week — how bad is it going to be against Oakland? If a wave is the cause of us near-losing a game at home, there is no blame on the fans. [BTW, is anyone else tired of us mailing in the game by running 3 times in a row late in the 4th quarter? I know the point is to run time off the clock, but isn't keeping the ball more important? Sweet mercy, is there no screen pass to run inbounds? I'm taking up a bloodly collection plate for us to buy Madden for Mike Solari for Christmas... anyone else in?]-cw
Then there's the fact that I wouldn't be caught dead doing something as stupid as the wave. I think I quit about the same time I got rid of my training wheels.
And instead of doing the wave DURING the drive, you boo AFTER the drive. That's how fans should voice their collective opinion.
I see nothing wrong with doing the wave as long as we do it when the OTHER team has the ball! I think it's kool that we got the wave going but it would have been so much better if we would have done it when they were on "O". GO KC
I think this wave business relates to another issue. I question whether our "loyal season ticket holders" are all that loyal. I have had my seats since 1989 and this year I hardly recognize a familiar face from game to game. Fans in the seats now don't know how to support the team (like doing the wave or being too loud when the team is on offense) plus they don't know how to park or hold their liquor. When did booing ever inspire an athlete to higher performance? In short, too many season ticket holders aren't attending the games and are giving/selling their tickets to anyone they can find to take them (often times, fans from the opposing team). I can't imagine true Chiefs fans being dumb enough to do the wave when the team has the ball no matter how much they paid for the ticket. Where did this idea come from that paying your money allows you to be stupid? My criticism of Chiefs fans has always been that we are great when we win. Great fans are there for support no matter how the team is doing. We are clearly transitioning to the Herm era and it will take time. I'm sure when we are back in the playoffs, I'll see those familiar faces again.
The Wave is never cool at a football game. Save it for the Royals….
Steve those are excellent points.
