Right after we learned the good news that Michael Bennett has been traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a conditional second-day draft pick, we catch the bad news that the San Diego Chargers have acquired former Pro Bowl wide receiver Chris Chambers. Granted, the price was pretty steep for a guy who’s been a disappointment ever since making the Pro Bowl in ’05. On the other hand, Chambers possesses both more experience and talent than any other receiver on the Bolts’ roster. What scares me is that Philip Rivers is probably the best quarterback he’s ever played with, and he’s never played with skill players as talented as Antonio Gates and LaDainian Tomlinson.
We’ll have to wait and see how this move pans out, but from where I’m sitting it certainly appears that the division’s best team just got a little better.
