It certainly looked ugly at first, but yesterday ended up being a great day at Arrowhead.
I hate to get all clichéd on you, but a win is still a win. Thanks to almost other-worldly efforts from Derrick Johnson, Jared Allen, Tamba Hali, Tony Gonzalez and, most importantly, Dwayne Bowe, the Chiefs were able to pull out a victory over the Vikes.
Anyway, the game was a blast — Vikings fans are really a great bunch. And this game is the game that’s going to keep on giving, because Dan over at The Viking Age lost our little bet and now has to pronounce today “Kansas City Chiefs Day” over on his site. The other reason we’re gloating today, though, is D-Bo. The Arrowhead Addict favorite once again silenced his doubters yesterday when he single-handedly took over the game down the stretch, putting on a show that culminated with his ridiculous game-winning jump-ball touchdown catch.
I know it’s still early in his career, but there’s a question I have to ask Chiefs fans right now: Was spending a first-round draft pick on Dwayne Bowe worth it?
From where I’m sitting, that answer has to be yes. I know a lot of you wanted us to go offensive line — i.e. Tony Ugoh. While I understand that train of thought, picking Ugoh or another tackle over Bowe would of made us go 0-3. No. 82 has the talent to really be something special. How many rookies promise to put on a show during their first ever regular season home game, then come out and not only deliver that performance but the game-winning play? Not very many.
Anyway, I’ll be back later on with more on the big game. I definitely want to delve further into the performances of Allen and D.J., because those two really looked superhuman out there yesterday. Can you say “Pro Bowl?”
