Why L.J. Wasn’t the Rapper

(Update: I want to quickly mention one other possibility.  Like commenter “shows” stated below, this could have been done years ago. I doubt it, but L.J. was having problems with Chiefs, and Priest did have a previous comeback. I still think that this whole thing is fishy, though. This is SBL trying to sell that new album that’s dropping later this year, nothing more.)

I’ve always felt that Larry Johnson has undeservedly been given a bad rep by many Chiefs fans, and now there is a bad rap that isn’t helping out his bad rep. We here at Arrowhead Addict have L.J.’s back, though.

First off, I went to Kansas State and knew a bunch of the football players back then. Most of them, in fact, during the span of 1999-2002. As soon as I found out that former ‘Cats running back Joe Hall was involved, I said this whole thing stinks. Hall could have been the next Jerome Bettis possibly, but both his attitude and work ethic were pathetic. Football never seemed nearly as important to him as his hip-hop lifestyle.

Besides Hall’s involvement, there are other parts of this just don’t make sense. L.J. said that wasn’t him on the song. I, for one, believe him. Why would he record a song like this before his big pay day knowing that Carl Peterson and the Chiefs are going to write the check? Why is this song just now getting released? Why is this the first rap we’ve ever heard from him (at least the first I’ve heard)? Why is he rapping with Don from S.B.L. when he could have rapped with Jay-Z, Kanye and the rest of his boys from the Roc? This all makes zero sense to me. Most of all, why in the hell would he rap about guns immediately following the suspensions of Pacman Jones and Tank Johnson?

The owner of the MySpace page himself said that L.J. freestyled at a party, and that he edited his words around to make the lyrics more provocative. So was this just crafty editing or a damn good L.J. impersonation? I could have sworn that L.J. was in either Arizona or New York for the entire duration of his holdout, so how could he have been at a party in K.C.? Besides, can anybody else do impersonations of famous people? I can do quite a few myself, and know at least a few other people that can as well. Larry himself does a spot on Herm Edwards.

After sleeping on it, this is clearly a ploy by some little known rap group to get a buzz, at least in their hometown. Let’s put this thing to bed and move on.

Besides, even if he was the rapper, and there is a resemblance in the rapper’s voice, I’ve said both eff Carl Peterson and that Priest Holmes is embarrassing himself more than a few times myself. Haven’t most Chiefs fans?

I've been speaking with the owner of the website and they swear that this IS LJ.  According to them LJ and Joe became friends when Joe was with the Chiefs in 2005 and they remain friends to this day.  Joe supposedly brought LJ over to this "studio" for lack of a better term and they were all messing around and got LJ to "freestyle"  they tell me that when people freestyle that guns drop in the lyrics just automatically.  They posted a link to this song weeks ago on a KC Chiefs myspace group and it was ignored.  Now suddenly it is picked up and became news. When it flared, my opinion, is they got scared that LJ was in trouble and they made a statement on their site that they messed with the words.  LJ's first response was it isn't me…naturally.  But when asked if someone could have taken the lyrics then put music behind them he said,"beats me. With the technology today."   His response should have been,"not a chance, because I never said that."  he didn't say that. which is pretty damning in itself.

So What if LJ did it.  We have Freedom of spech in America.Even Black American's can speak or "rap" freely.  This is a non-story.  The Chiefs not being able to score via the QB postion IS a story.  Go Colts!!!!!!!
