Who's wearing the "C"s?

Posted by: Blog Z

Watching the fantastic ending of the 49ers-Cardinals, I couldn’t help but notice the little “C” patch The Detroit Lions’ Captain’s Patch (Coursety of DetroitLions.com)that Anquan Boldin was wearing for ‘Zona. After a bit of research, I found out that this was already covered in the latest edition of Paul Lukas’s infamous Uni Watch blog:

…The season’s biggest uniform change will be apparent before the game even starts, when the captains meet at the center of the field for the coin toss. That’s because team captains this year will be wearing a special captain’s patch on the upper-right chest area… The patches will be color-coordinated to match each jersey, and the gold star underneath the “C” marks the number of years that the player has been a captain under the league’s new captaincy initiative.

So who are the big fellas in KC so privileged to be considered our captains? According to KFFL, looks like they’re Donnie Edwards, Brian Waters, and Jason Medlock Jon McGraw. Seems like a somewhat random selection of guys to select – I mean, Donnie’s a Chief at heart, and Brian Waters is the only staple left on the ripped-and-crushed looseleaf sheet that we optimistically call “our offensive line,” but Jon McGraw? Luckily he didn’t just get the job because he’s one of Herm’s guys, huh?

If you were to pick offensive, defensive, and special teams captains, who would you select? I’d go with LJ, DJ, and Bazooka-Leg Colquitt, respectively.

If I'm not mistaken, the captains are elected by the team. McGraw's hustle must have really impressed the other players.

Where can you buy one of those patches? I need one to sew it on my jersey to make my jersey look exactly like the NFL jersey. I tried all websites and I found one patch but it wasn’t the color I was looking for!!!

Not 100% sure Alex. Not sure if they do sell the Captain Badges? But if you want it to be official than I would try and see if NFL.com has one.
