Two Seven

Two SevenSo, Larry Johnson is going to crash and burn right?  I mean, it must be true because it is the conventional wisdom right?

We’ve heard allllll about what happens to running backs that have had as many carries as him.

People say so.  LJ carried the ball 416 times last year which was an NFL record.   Just look at what it did to James Wilder, right after his 400-carry year in 1984.  The next year, the guy had only 1300 yards and 10 touchdowns.  What a loser.

Look at Eddie George, who had 403 rushes in 2000.  The guy never bounced back.  Unless you want to count the 12 touchdown season he had in 2002.

Then you’ve got the infamous Eric Dickerson.  His 1986 season included 404 rushing attempts and the guy was washed up after that.  That is, if you consider his 1,659 yards and 12 touchdowns in 1988 “washed up.”

Larry Johnson has amassed 4,292 total yards and 40 touchdowns.

In. The. Last. Two. Seasons.

Yep, that old LJ.  When are we going to learn?  I mean sheesh, placing all of our hopes on some guy who accumulated more offensive production by himself than some other teams (whom, though one was draped in silver and black, shall remain nameless).

Something tells me that Richard Smith, the Texans’ Defensive Coordinator is not subscribing to conventional wisdom.  We’re going to see 8 or 9 in the box, along with the phrase:  “Damon, beat us through the air buddy, we dare ya…”

Two Seven will get the job done.  You watch.
