Two New K-State Traditions: The Power Towel and Willie’s Chant
Earlier this week we featured both the Kansas and Mizzou football teams, so it’s only fair that we now feature Zach and my Kansas State Wildcats as well. Here’s a promo video for both the Power Towel and Willie’s Chant, two new traditions head coach Ron Prince and Co. are trying to get off the ground. This video’s popped up on everywhere — Bring on the Cats, EDSBS, Fanhouse, Troy Nunes is an Absolute Magician, etc. — and is not necessarily receiving rave reviews. Still, I applaud K-State for trying to improve one of the best home-field advantages in the country — Snyder Stadium. The Power Towel will be a hit, and I think Willie’s Chant will eventually catch on, too. C’mon, just because some of us don’t dig Jock Jams doesn’t mean that most sports fans don’t.
(By the way, what’s with all the Willie bashing? How many other mascots run out there and go ballistic with the push-ups during games? He’s out there like it’s Full Metal Jacket, while Big Jay and Truman get winded just walking around. He does his job — he gets the crowd into the game.)
