Herm Edwards (KC Chiefs)Here are some quotes from a Q&A with Head Coach Herm Edwards.

On LT Damion McIntosh playing in Week 1:

Q: How much did McIntosh practice?

EDWARDS: “He practiced today.”

Q: Is he ready to go?

EDWARDS: “I’m not going to ask him if he’s not. I just assume he’s going to be ready. Will he have a full load? I don’t know that yet, but we’ll see how the week goes by.”

Q: But right now he’ll start?

EDWARDS: “I’m planning that he’s going to play.”

Jimmy Wilkerson’s performance during the preseason and his role in the first two games:

Q: How much do you expect Jimmy Wilkerson will play these first two games?

EDWARDS: “He’s going to start. He’s going to start at the end for us and be in the rotation with the rest of those guys.”

Q: He played pretty well, right?

EDWARDS: “Yeah, in the pre-season he sure has. He’s matured as compared to earlier in his career. I think someone asked that question earlier. He was a junior coming out and now all of a sudden you can see he’s a more mature guy. He’s played in the system for a year now so he’s kind of familiar with what we’re asking him to do. He’s kind of a dual guy who can play inside and out.”

On acquiring QB Tyler Thigpen:

Q: Thigpen was one of them and I was reading that you were interested in him on draft day. Were you fortunate that he became available because you were going to go to Houston with only two quarterbacks?

EDWARDS: “Well, we were but you always have another hand that you’re playing. You’re always playing poker. They were actually trying to sneak him through on the practice squad. We kind of anticipated that and it kind of worked out for us.”

On new CB Rashard Bardsdale:

Q: What about your new corner, Rashad Bardsdale?

EDWARDS: “He tried to get out of Albany. I guess they had the little plane where the lady takes the bag and puts it on the plane, puts the passengers on the plane and comes back to the counter. She didn’t get to the counter in time and the plane left. He’s here, at practice.”
