I’m going to keep this short and sweet, because I’m royally pissed off. In order to sign quarterback Tyler Thigpen, the Chiefs cut wide receiver Bobby Sippio. Basically, we cut a player who absolutely won’t help us at all this year, for a player who would have at least contributed something to our passing game.Actually, Thigpen will probably never contribute at all.
Why Sippio? We could have cut Chad Williams. We have four capable safties, and Williams was horrible this preseason. We also could have cut Derrick “Fumblitis” Ross or Samie “Stone Hands” Parker. Neither player really deserves to be on the roster. There are tons of guys who should have got the ax before Sippio.
This move will not be popular among Chiefs fans, because the Chiefs won’t be able to hide Sippio on the practice squad. No way. He’ll be wearing another team’s colors before the season kicks off Thursday night. Unless we can miraculously keep him hidden until he is ready to contribute, I hope he goes somewhere else and plays well. Herm Edwards, King Carl and the crew need to learn their lesson for refusing to give up on Parker.

Heard a rumor that Derrick Ross was cut and the Chiefs signed a CB from Jacksonville.
Unbelievable!!! Releasing this receiver is the worst move the Chiefs have ever made. We release this guy and keep Stone Hands Parker. Carl and Herm need to go. It's hard to be a fan when they are this stupid.
agreed. This is a mistake, but maybe we've been fooled by HBO too, I mean, its not like any of us were in River Falls, he might be slow…or not have the right character for the Chiefs, who knows. This will haunt us, however.
I truly don't get it.-cw
There are definitely other receivers that could have been cut. Our receiving corps is pathetic.
I'm more of a Bears fan, than a Chiefs fan. But, I live in KC. You guys must be nuts, if you think Sippio was ever going to be a contributer at this level. I will say, that they should have signed one of the many WR from other teams who have been released recently and dropped Sippio for one of them.Just don't kid yourself into thinking Sippio was going to have an impact on this team.
Interesting. A player only has 2 catches and we're ready to annoint him as a star? I'm curious about Sippio either, but once we take the "Chiefs hero" cape off of him, we'll realize that nobody outside of KC cares that the Chiefs cut him. He will undoubtedly clear waivers and be put on the practice squad, where he will learn this offense which he almost certainly hasn't had enough time to learn just yet. As for Samie Parker, I don't know why so many people hate the guy. He's become KC's whipping boy. I think he'll be a solid slot receiver and the Chiefs need at least one guy capable of stretching the field. And his numbers aren't superb, but they're fairly productive as far as receivers go (very productive for a slot receiver).
It recently came out in The Star that Parker is a great big 5'9" 180 pound receiver. If you watched him in the Bears game you would see he was being knocked off his routes almost every play. Simply put, Parker is a lightweight in a big man's game.
I am so bummed Bobby Sippio was cut! I couldn’t believe it, after he was one of the few offensive players to make ANY points in the preseason games! The Chiefs never gave him a real chance!
Well, I wish Bobby the best, and hope he finds success somewhere else. He definitely deserves it!
Amen, chiefschick! Gotta love Sipp. He put his heart and soul into the Red and Gold. I guess it just didn’t work out. Hopefully, he will land on his feet. I mean, the worst he could do is to go back to being the AFL MVP.
