Ray Farmer is Good at His Job, but Chuck Barris Would be Even Better

Ray Farmer (KCChiefs.com)

VS.

Chuck Barris (Millionaire Playboy)

After watching the latest edition of Hard Knocks, we all know that Kansas City Chiefs director of pro personnel Ray “The Grim Reaper” Farmer is pretty good at what he does. That being said, wouldn’t it be more entertaining TV if the players about to be released were called into director of gonging Chuck Barris’ office and given The Gong Show send off? He’s an ex-game show host and -CIA assassin (allegedly), so he’d be entertaining and imposing. Check out some of his greatest moments from The Gong Show.

Here are a few current Chiefs that after watching this preseason I’d like to see get gonged, and a few players I’d like to see become regular cast members like TGS favorites “Gene Gene The Dancing Machine” and “The Unknown Comic”.

Gong

Gong ‘Em:

WR Samie Parker – He’s had three-plus years to distinguish himself, yet has failed. He’s caught only five regular season touchdowns during that span. I’d be willing to bet that he’s dropped four to five times that many balls as a Chief. It’s time to move on and give guys like Chris Hannon and Jeff Webb a chance to be our “speed” wideout.

G/T Tre Stallings – Do I even have to explain myself here?

S Chad Williams – Simply put — possibly the most timid professional football player I’ve ever seen.

RB Priest Holmes – It’s time to send Freddy the Freeloader packing. Thanks for the memories, Priest, but it’s clear at this point that you only care about the cash and not the Chiefs.

Gene Gene

Add ‘Em to the Cast:

WR Bobby Sippio – You can call me his agent if you want to, but he made a catch and run last night that only Dwayne Bowe could make out of all our other receivers. Actually, he made a couple of nice catches in traffic. He has the combination of athleticism, confidence, hands, football IQ and swagger that no other receiver on the roster currently possesses. I am positive he can help us this year.

TE Michael Allan – Kris Wilson and Jason Dunn are really a fullback and an extra tackle, respectively. That leaves Tony Gonzalez at tight end, an aging vet who will eventually need to be replaced. Allan might just be the guy to replace him. He won’t ever be Tony G., but he might end up being the next Jason Witten. You can’t let a player like that walk. You just can’t.

CB Justin Phinisee – On a team desperate for cornerbacks, Phinisee does more than just play corner. He can back up Eddie Drummond as a return specialist, and he’s also a quality special teams coverage player. He plays with great energy and passion, and is still young enough to develop. He can really play any position in the secondary as well. A bigger, younger and potentially better Benny Sapp.

CB Dimitri Patterson – Sorry, Tyron Brackenridge, but Patterson has been more impressive this preseason. He’s another physical cornerback who is a good tackler, and could potentially excel on special teams. I’d like to see him make the cut.

Let me guess -- you prefer Eck to Sippio? I like Eck, but nobody will steal him away from the practice squad, and he's a younger, less experienced, less capable version of Sippio.

If we release Sippio, he will play for another team in '07 for sure. Just my $.02.

I dissagree with a few of these above but wont bother to bore people with which ones.

I am so ready for "First Down Celebration"  Sammie to take his act somewhere else. For every caught pass with him there is 3 to 5 dropped ones. Another Dicky V catastrophy. And as far as Priest is concerned, I agree. Ya gotta give him respect for what he has done but his time for hand-outs at the CP free buffet has to come to a close.  He was great while he lasted, but he is 1 good hard hit away from drooling on himself for the rest of his life. And these "Master to Grasshopper "riddles of his. Geez write a book on philosophy already there Hypocrites!
