Chiefs Fix: Preseason Game Four Edition
Chiefs fans will finally get to see recently signed wide receiver and former AFL star Bobby Sippio tonight. Personally, I’m real pumped. I’ve received some ridicule for being so high on Sippio (mostly from my brother, the coach), but I just had this feeling about him. First off, there’s the stats, including 53 touchdowns last season. Dismiss those if you will, but it was impossible for me to dismiss Sippio’s highlight reel. When a guy can run, jump and catch like that, with his size,it doesn’ matter who he is playing against — you can see that he can flat out play. Apparently, the Chiefs coaches are now even high on Sippio (according to the report I received on last night’s Hard Knocks, which I haven’t been able to catch yet). Will that translate into a roster spot? Will Sippio’s play force other WRs besides just Rod Gardner out the door?
Chris from Arrowhead Pride is also pumped about Sippio, and stops by Turf Show Times — a great spot for St. Louis Rams fans — to talk about Sippio and tonight’s game. - Turf Show Times
While we’re on the subject of Rod Gardner, I really don’t agree with his release. Didn’t the Chiefs kind of screw him over by cutting him? He hasn’t done much as a receiver since joining the Chiefs, but what receiver currently on the roster not name Eddie Kennison has? He was great on special teams last season, and by all accounts outplayed Chris Hannon, Jeff Webb and Samie Parker up at training camp. The screwed up thing is he really didn’t get very many opportunities in the preseason games, while Hannon, Parker and Webb all saw extensive action. I guess the coaches just really didn’t trust him with his attitude and all. I really hope that the coaching staff’s obsession with those three — Hannon, Parker and Webb — doesn’t cost Sippio a roster spot or Dwayne Bowe any playing time. If the coaching staff wants to give Hannon and Webb more time, fine, but it’s time to hand Parker his pink slip. What good is a slot receiver who can’t even haul in a pedestrian quick slant pass?
By the way, I heard that D-Bo and Sippio are now pulling a T-Mac-Vinsanity and claiming to be cousins. When you climb far enough up a family tree and off into its branches you can find a relation to just about everybody, especially those of the same race and geographical origin. I love Black people, but this is something only Black people do. Don’t worry, Caucasians both inbreed and practice polygamy in this country. Fabricating a distant relationship is nothing compared to either of those things.
The Star’s Adam Teicher thinks this is a meaningless game for just about everybody. Brodie Croyle, however, can re-start his journey towards eventually becoming the Chiefs starting quarterback tonight. I fully believe that if Croyle takes his time and plays mistake-free football, he can start to regain the trust of Herm Edwards and the rest of the Chiefs coaching staff (Dick Curl, Mike Solari, etc.). - Kansas City Star
Priest Holmes will likely begin the season on the PUP list. This means that he will be ineligible for the first six weeks of the season, and definitely puts his comeback in serious jeopardy. I hate to say this, but it appears that Priest’s comeback truly was all about the Benjamins. - Real Football 365
Our network, Fan-Sided Blogs, has a new St. Louis Rams blog — Ramblin’ Fan. David and Mack do a helluva job over there, so sure to check it out in addition to Turf Show Times. - Ramblin’ Fan
Our buddy Chris over at K.C. Chiefs Fanatic has a great piece on “The Top Five Places to See an NFL Game“. Of course, Arrowhead ranks first. - K.C. Chiefs Fanatic
Stay tuned for more on tonight’s game!

Brodie Croyle's preseason will be judged by this game. Everyone kept changing their mind about him from game to game this preseason. If he plays well, you can expect fans (including myself) to be clamoring for him to start after Damion McInstoh gets back. Before that, any QB the Chiefs start is going to get pummeled.
August 30th, 2007 at 5:14 pmPriest should be cut, guy does nothing for a year and half and is so out of shape hes on PUP for the whole preseason….I don't see it going anywhere with him.WR is a toughie, they said on Hard Knocks episode 4 that we will only keep 4 WR's, but maybe they were saying that to Gardner to make him feel better as they cut him…I'm also looking forward to seeing Sippio tonight, Eddie and Dwayne are locks, I figure Drummond is now another lock at WR to return kicks & punts. That leaves a dogfight for Sippio, Hannon, Webb, and Parker….I prefer Hannon and we'll check out Sippio tonight…
