Huard Named the Starter
Herm Edwards has decided to go a different direction and start the quarterback who helped lead the Chiefs to the playoffs last year. The K.C. Star is reporting that Edwards decided to go with Damon Huard after seeing Croyle’s performance against the Saints on Thursday. With Damion McIntosh possibly missing the first game, Herm decided that it might be best to go with Huard instead of the youngster Croyle.
Damon Huard has won the Chiefs quarterback competition and will start the regular season opener Sept. 9 against the Texans in Houston.
Coach Herm Edwards seemed to be leaning toward starting Brodie Croyle. But Edwards apparently changed his mind after Croyle’s disappointing play in Thursday night’s preseason loss to New Orleans.
Huard, because of a sore calf muscle, did not play against the Saints. He did not lead the Chiefs to any touchdowns in either of the first two preseason games, but he had some success last season filling in for Trent Green.

Huard was the second rated passer in the league last year and other than Brodies arm strength he isn't impressive. You can have a rocket arm and be a terrible QB, just ask Oakland.
August 25th, 2007 at 1:23 pmhorrible news. if it is only for the first game, OK, but if it is for the season then that is a bad bad bad decision. we need to build for the future eventually, playing damon huard wont do that…
August 25th, 2007 at 2:35 pmI think without MAC and Jared Allen, Herm is wanting to make sure we get a win in Houston, because if we start out 1-3 or 0-4 we are doomed.

August 25th, 2007 at 3:09 pmnow who says we would loose three or four out of the gate?? people liked getting tnt because of the lack of jared,…. we wouldnt even be speaking of this if we drafted a tackle one of the last three years… but enough of this nonsence…lol… this is still preseason… when the CHIEFS start out 4-0 call me…
August 25th, 2007 at 4:59 pmI really hope we do. I would be very pleased with 3-1, since that would mean we would beat Chicago or San Diego on the road.

August 25th, 2007 at 9:21 pmCroyle never beat Auburn.
August 26th, 2007 at 1:32 pmI watched a little bit of the New Orleans game, and I don't know if how bad Croyle did was exactly all his fault….Kolby Smith totally dropped an easy grab that would've lead to a first down. The INT he had was an amazing grab by the DB…..I'm willing to have a 6-10 record to have Croyle reach his full potential.
August 26th, 2007 at 5:02 pmif this line doesnt mature and pull together huard will have more than a sore calf… croyle may still get in there this year
