At the urging of many of our readers, I want to talk Casey Printers. Honestly, he’s looked as good as any Kansas City Chiefs quarterback this far, if not better. Sure, he’s played against second and third string defensive talent, but the talent he’s played with hasn’t been great either. That being said, why not give him a chance with the first team? If it really is an open quarterback competition, and we really are going younger, then he should get the opportunity to run the first team. I’m not saying he should or even could be the Chiefs starter this season. All I’m saying is that he’s played too good — and the other QBs have played too poorly, especially Huard — to not at least give him a shot. What does Chiefs Nation think?

I'm so pissed that you wrote this piece, Adam, because I was going to be the one to lightly suggest that perhaps Printers be given an oppurtunity. I totally agree with it. No one else has looked ok all preseason, with the exception of 1 drive by Croyle. If it's not this year, fine, but mark my words, in 3 years, this conversation will come up again. The guy's looking great, and he deserves a fair shot.-cw
One more thing – say what you want about the weak competition that Printers has been facing, but the way he avoided the sack on the one long pass was one of the most impressive I've seen at live at Arrowhead. A quarterback with that much mobility and big-play ability has no business playin' with the Red and Gold… or does he?-cw
NO….. Brodie is our man… yes people like huard because of his play last year, but with the O-line like it is at the moment we need the mobility of Brodie… and I still want to see MR. ECK with the first string, and I am tired of seeing parker(who I liked out of coll., but not now) in with the first stringers… *** ALL I AM SAYING IS GIVE ECK A CHANCE***
I think Parker could be cut….and I am glad at least someone agrees with me about Printers.
That talent thing doesn't work for me, ZB — he's playing with sub-par talent as well. Both sides of theball are even, and that's all that matters to me. Plus, obviously, Chiefs fans want to take a look a the guy.
adam, your logic is trivial at best. printers is not talented enough to start in the NFL, at least as of now. croyle is our starter, hands down. printers deserves no such "chance", we shouldnt avoid him just so he cant be the starter but it is croyles job to lose, and if croyle loses the job it is going to huard.if printers plays during the regular season, we have a problem.
Can you actually say with a straight face that Damon Huard has looked better than Casey Printers has thus far? I can't.

NO QB WILL LOOK GOOD , BEHIND THIS O-LINE!!! we need to draft O-linemen… next year ,… what we are seeing right now will get worse no matter who the stars are if we dont have a O-line!!! lets see three straight years of being able to draft a lineman first round and not a one. I dont want to hear that it takes a while to groom a lineman, when it takes a while on receivers as well. And if we look at busts then maybe we should field a bunch of safties if thats what people are worried about, as safties are always a safe bet…lol,… And I want that picture of MR. ECK that you guys took at camp…
lol no qb will look good? did you see the same game? Printers was electrifying. How long has it been since we saw a kc qb making plays like printers? Heres my point… Chances are it will be a croyle starting this season because hes a good quaterback but lets look at a comparison. what are croyles strengths;strong arm, mobilty, experience and achievement at a college level and youth. now lets look at Printers;Strong arm (we saw that with his hail mary pass), mobility (he was shakin and baking in that backfield not to mention several rushing first downs), lots of experience and success in CFL, and hes only 25. All i ask is atleast disprove that Printers cant start at the highest level. Why isnt it possible that we have found a potential gold mine in Printers that is clearly being overlooked. Also i would agree that we should cut samie parker. I like Kennison, Bowe, Webb, Hannon and Sippio. Sorry randolph, your a good kid but punt returning isnt that important. Put Eck on practice squad for now but i dont think we should let him go.

Casey Printers has my vote. The O-Line(starters,2&3 string) isn't PROTECTING. Watch, all the QB's are having to scramble 90% of the time. Casey seems tobe the only 1 out of 3 QB's that really has the ability to scramble. The other 2 are pocket passers. THERE IS NO POCKET! THAT"S A MAJOR PROBLEM for the KC Offense, cause this offense system is not designed to work that way. Trent wasn't a scrambler, Damon's not a scrambler, I'm really guessing that Croyle isn't either. Casey is and that's good til our O-Line can pass protect. Also while these guys(O-Line) are learning that, they should brush up on how to open running lanes or maybe Mike Solari needs to better play call also, not evrything has to go up the middle, every play. HE Needs to do something better than what he's doin. The Madden play book is bigger than his. Anyway, all that said, I'll have faith every game, every year. I'm a fan. GO CHIEFS!!!!
Guys stop worrying so much, this is preseason and we dont have our best player. He will make the OL, QB and everyone else look better. Plus we dont even have our LT right now who has been DOMINATING in training camp.
The offensive play calls are ALWAYS dummy downed for the preseason. Teams do not open up their playbook because they want to have something for the season. Everyone just needs to chill-out.
Croyle has mobility by the way but I wouldnt want him to show it during preseason because he could end up like Trent Green did the home opener.
Give Croyle a chance. He made a very impressive TD drive, something Printers hasn't done! He made a very bad mistake with his INT, but he learned from it and thats what you want your QBs doing in
practicepreseason.Being tired of watching draft selection provide where a players stands on a team is rediculous ??? ….. ECK as with Printers is showing up others above them… Wilson is playing fullback above a converted powerhouse in boomer, who could open wholes… wholes Johnson will need behind this o-line… they want recievers to play in a playaction pass off. so why do people want recivers such as hannon and webb who are half the size of Bowe, which is another reason I mention ECK hes even the same size of Bowe… as for printers.. go ahead and give him a shot, but when it comes to the QB possition what the team needs is to have *ONE QB*… they need to feel him… this is a position that when it comes to competeing actually hurts other parts of the Off.
Y not give him a shot with first team altho he lead the CFL in botched snaps and has showed he has potential to do the same here Not Good I think we give BC the magority of snaps and hope he develops quickly! Hope he and D Bowe become the next Aikman to Irvin. Go chiefs
Guys we are talking about pre-season football here. The 3rd string QB always looks good unless he has absolutly no talent! I like Printers but he is another Mike Vick wanta-be(w/o the bad pub). He is a run first QB coached his whole life to use his legs instead of his head and arms. GO CHIEFS!!
By this logic, if you are going to give Printers a chance at starting, why not give Terrell the same chance? We haven't seen him take even a single kneel-down play in the preseason – so how do we know that he isn't the most talented of the four?
