Prologue: You know you are a Chiefs freak when you grab HBO for the sole reason of watching Hard Knocks…and you are happy about it. My wife regularly refers me to the proper professional help.
Last night I settled in and enjoyed another edition of Hard Knocks. Man, I love the cinematography, the editing and overall production level. NFL films is at the top of their game and the HBO guys are giving us a great view of the team. Listening in on the coaches meetings, hearing Dick Curl suggest that we need to fully invest in Brodie Croyle, and then hearing Carl say in response “We want to win NOW!” is all fun.
Gunther Cunningham is beyond words. Holy crap. We’ve always known this guy was intense, but Hard Knocks is helping us feel just a bit of what our guys are feeling. Don’t mess with Gun…he was completely ticked about having Family Night! We’ve gotten to hear from all of the coaches: defensive backs, line coaches, special teams, quarterbacks, you name it. Even the scouts.
But not Mike Solari.
I’d listen to Gun all night long, what a fire breather, but I’d love to hear from our Offensive Coordinator too. In years past, when Solari was coaching our Offensive Line, the lineman always had a pact not to talk with the media, I’m wondering if this has anything to do with the non-miked Mike. Hearing Dick Curl (our quarterbacks coach/assistant head coach) voice his thoughts is great, but I’d love to hear our Offensive Coordinator’s take on the Croyle/Huard situation. Mike, my man, don’t hide from HBO. We want to know about your offense.
In the mean time, props to HBO for making this the most publicized Chiefs training camp since Joe Montana came to River Falls in 1993.

Hey I too got HBO 1 night before the first HardKnocks, and I'll get ride of it right after. My wife gave up trying to get me help, and just understands that I have a condition and the only medication is: "The Chiefs!"
