The C.O.A.T. Finals (Tony's Last Chance)

3. Derrick Thomas vs. 5. Tony Gonzalez

Derrick Thomas (kcchiefs.com)

VS.

Tony G (ingramsonline.com)

Well, it looks like this almost over, but we wanted to give Tony G. his final chance. He needs some votes, but he’s had an impressive run against one of the best and favorite Chiefs of all time in D.T. When Tony’s career is over and all is said and done he might end up being The C.O.A.T.

Which terrifying ass guy is the best Al Davis Doppelganger?

Call the winner of this poll whatever you want, but, as I said before, anyone who thinks that the REAL C.O.A.T. is anyone but LD has no appreciation for the words "Of All Time" ad damn little appreciation for "Chiefs".  Youngsters, let me clue you in. "All Time" includes before you were born…

That's understood. But just because Lenny won a Super Bowl doesn't mean he's better than either of these guys. I've watched a lot of tape on Lenny, and only his good moments. Using Super Bowls to determine who's better between two players just isn't fair. These are 53-man rosters!

Question: Was Emmitt Smith a better running back than Barry Sanders?

You can't punish guys for the team that surrounds them. Lenny had ridiculous talent on that team.

The other thing is that this is also a popularity contest. When we "say" greatest, that also means most beloved. The fact that D.T. wins this shows how much Chiefs fans love him.

I never said or implied that my criteria had anything to do with Super Bowls  – you just assume that must be it. I would suggest that there is a lot more to LD's career than just the Super Bowl years. You tell me that I "can't punish guys for the team that surrounds them." But then it sure looks like you try to diminish LD's accomplishments by telling me what a good team he had surrounding him. You can't have it both ways.In the end, you are right when you say that this is really a popularity contest. It's a good thing that we old timers seldom worry too much about how popular we are …

One thing that has unfortunately made this contest a blowout instead of DT slightly ahead has been a ton of traffice from the Bama boards.

I love them coming to check out the site and bringing it for their boy DT. Lenny was barely inched out by Tony and like I said before when his career is done I think he might be the COAT. The guy transformed a position and has done it every year…The only thing he doesn't have is the ring…

ok people think of something here…have we heard of Antonio Gates… who will most likely pass both S. Sharp of denver and our Tony g…..    Tony is a great TE. but transforming the possition,I dont think so unless we disscount a couple other TEs'….AND the NFL helped change the way TEs' get used today….. as for D.T. he is a great pass rusher… not a linebacker… I have said it before…*PEOPLE FROM BAMA RAMA DING DONG* Listen up!!!!! DT  isnt even a HOF calaber linebacker… yes he could rush the passer, no he never stopped the run,  he wasnt able to cover at all it was worse than or secondary the last few years… really he was that bad…Teams ran to his side and he still couldnt stop runners… (check his tackles, the numbers are pathetic.)  he will never make the HOF!!!!!!! AND last but not least both these guys played with amazing talent on there side of the football, nobody can tell me dick vermeils teams were bad enough to affect tonys performance, … and DT was on some great defencive teams when he played. btw Emmitt isnt a good example against anybody he was so overrated…hahahaha :) love yas Adam, but he had two O-lines to run behind… The only thing that bothers me from all this disscusion on the coat… is that everyone even people useing stats or useing a who have we seen play point of view… is that I am the only one who is correct…  :)    .   . *GOT YAS* …hahahahaha  :) its been fun I like and loved watching JOE DELANEY play, And I am and have been a follower of W. Roaf, even when he was with the SAINTS… but honestly DT… well he is popular… maybe one day he makes the HOF in canton ohio but I personally think he wont make it farther than the KANSAS CITY CHIEFS HOF RING AT ARROWHEAD. Still making this poll doesnt hurt him. :)

We do have to remember Lenny only lost by one and honestly maybe Chiefs fans feel that he is already honored. This little tourney has been exciting and I think its been good for all of us to remember all of the Chiefs. Lets celebrate, not playa' hate :)

  7. Zach says:

A few is what I meant to say for Lenny losing….Damn game is about to start and my mind is there lol

  8. redbeard says:

I dont hate , I am just being honest DT, wont make the HOF… but He is a great KC CHIEFS PLAYER
