Arrowhead of the future?
**UPDATE** KCChiefs.com has released the New Arrowhead site, a nice spiffy thing that promises to be covered in Flash animations that kill your bandwith when it’s completely up and running. Nice lil’ pictures and a bit more information. Check it out and see what you think.
Remember a few months ago when Kansas City residents approved that little $850m bill for renovations to Arrowhead and Kaufman stadiums? Well now we get an actual, tangible look at what exactly we were voting for:
Referred to as “The New Arrowhead” on KCChiefs.com, the upgrade included an extra $50m of the Hunt family’s own cash, pushing their contribution to $125 meeeeelion dollars.
“…Stadium improvements include concourses that will be nearly doubled in size, allowing fans to get to their seats – and back to the action on the field – in less time; more restrooms; a greater variety of food and beverages to enjoy; a broad range of bars, concessions and seating areas within the concourses; and club lounge spaces to enjoy with family and friends. Other additions will feature an upgraded sound system, new video board displays - including a 360 degree ribbon board around the lower fascia of the stadium - a new press box, and a new group seating area - the Horizon Level. The improvements also call for a Chiefs’ Hall of Fame – The Hall of Honor - and an expanded team store.”
I don’t know, personally, that I am a fan of the “improvements.” Just looking at them initially, I think Arrowhead looks less classically beautiful and more obnoxiously busy - like they just wanted to add the “wider concourses” as an excuse to support the massive luxury/coaches box you see on the left side of the picture. It’s sick we’ll finally be getting a wicked nice video system, and the ribbon screen that you see whenever you watch NBA games will be a wonderful addition to the seldom-updated mini-scoreboard between the concourses. But overall, I’m not buying it. Maybe my opinion will change over time, but if not, I’ll be the first one to suggest changing the name to Scare-o-head.

Actually I could care less about what they do, besides only thing. The only thing I have hated has been the narrown concourse walkways. When it takes me 30 minutes to get to my seat before the game, I get pissed. There have been times it is so backed up that you are literally on top of one another.
August 15th, 2007 at 1:02 pmthe majority of what gets done will be on the inside, electrical and plumbing… stuff in these regaurds,(that they, chiefs org. didnt allow the old contract to take care of…LOL).. as well as adding the money making additions…what I thought was funny was that we as voters didnt fall for the stupid rolling roof for a maybe superbowl in fifteen years…hahahahaha….. the roof was to have snap and tie down sides of canvas…lol… it would have looked so hidious…..
