Earl,On the surface, I would agree with you that it would seem that just as soon as Herm arrived, the offense went in the tank. Now, there is no doubt that Herm's philosophy to the game is different than Vermeil's, but I don't think that is the real reason our offense has been struggling.During Vermeil's time with the Chiefs, we were sporting at least two (Roaf and Shields) Hall of Famers on the offensive line, and Brian Waters is one of the best current guards in the league. Last year, with no Roaf, our offensive tackles struggled the entire year...and I'm convinced that had more to do with our offensive woes than anything else. When the foundation crumbles, the walls and roof don't fare well. This year, we're going to need McIntosh to solidify that left side. On Saturday night, just as Adam noted in his post, Svitek got beat again and again and again. His failures were largely responsible for Brodie's fumble and contributed to the INT.Watch our line play improve and you'll see some offense. Never the offense installed by Vermeil, but we'll see some offense. If the line play doesn't improve, then it is going to be a long season, regardless of who is playing behind center.

Herm Edwards came to the Chiefs with the mind set that they put to many points on the board. How else can you win? They (Chiefs) tried to out score their opponents because the defence was subpar but, why mess with the offence? His only concern should have been the defence. Now, that (defence) is much better, the team can't even score a point. The offence was not broke. My question is: Why did Herm find it necessary to say putting up a lot of points is not the way to go? I just don't understand.
