We launched this site back on March 26, not fully knowing where we were going. Almost five months later we are still going strong, and bigger than we ever really though we’d be thanks to you. With that being said, man, am I glad the actual football begins tonight. It’s been a blast covering all things Chiefs for you during the offseason, but there is only so much L.J.-and Trent Green-holdout one can take. I’m more than ready for some football, and can’t wait to start writing about the actual games. Here are the top ten things from tonight’s game that the Arrowhead Addict staff is looking forward to…
10. Tyron Brackenridge Playing nickelback. Herm Edwards believes in the kid. Tonight he will have his first opportunity at making believers out of everybody else.
9. “The Fastest Three in Captivity.” Tonight we finally get to see first hand if we have the fastest linebacking corps in the NFL or not.
8. Receivers Who Didn’t Go to LSU. Eckwerekwu, Gardner, Hannon, Randoloph, Webb, etc… let’s see what these kids are made of. Kennison will play, but we already know he’ll bring it. D-Bo will likely make his debut a week from now.
7. The New Running Backs – With Kris Wilson, Larry Johnson and Priest Holmes all sitting this one out, we’ll get to see what Boomer Grigsby, Kolby Smith and Michael Bennett can do.
6. The Right Tackles – Are we the only ones crossing our fingers, hoping that either Chris Terry or Kyle Turley (or potentially even Svitek) can man the RT spot this year? I don’t think so.
5. The Next Big Will – Will Svitek, a converted defensive lineman, will have to grow up fast in the absence of Damion McIntosh. Personally, I think it’s his time.
4. Damon Huard. If Brodie Croyle isn’t ready, can he be the steady leader we need? Or was last season just a one-hit wonder (and not even that at time — like the Miami game).
3. Tank and Turk - Herm finally gets to put his new weapon T-N-T to work. Just how explosive are these two? We’ll soon find out.
2. Page and Pollard — How the West was Won? Can these two put it all together and form one of the best safety duos in the NFL? We hope so.
1. The Brodie Croyle Project. We’ve been developing him for well over a year now, but the real growing begins tonight. We are psyched about our first home-grown QB since man walked on the moon (not literally, but it’s close). Go Brodie!
We’ll be checking back in often throughout the night!
