Awwww… nice to be back. We didn’t have Internet access towards the end of our trip (not to mention time), so we’ll be playing catch up for the rest of the day.
Training Camp/Saturday’s Scrimmage
A couple of general notes before posts on some more specific subjects. Going to training camp was a lifelong goal for Zach and I. That being said, we were extremely, extremely disappointed that Herm Edwards called Saturday’s Chiefs-Vikings scrimmage due to fighting. That decision wasn’t exactly fan friendly. Couldn’t both the Chiefs and Vikings have went back to scrimmaging amongst their own teams? Very frustrating to drive that far to see only 45 minutes of practice. I’m sure training camp is worth it for those of you who go for a week or longer, but I wouldn’t at all suggest just heading up there for the scrimmages. The players fight, the stars sit and the coaches keep the playcalling vanilla. The beer and brats were dirt cheap, though, and we did meet quite a few nice Chiefs fans before hitting the road to Chicago probably two minutes after Herm called it off.
As far as who looked good — Brad Eckwerekwu, Boomer Grigsby, Damion McIntosh, Jimmy Wilkerson, Kris Wilson and Turk McBride. And Damon Huard did outplay Brodie Croyle, even though Damon received more first-team snaps. Between blocking well and catching everything that was thrown at him, Kris Wilson was our star of the day. My Chris Cooley comparisons just might be legit. Defensively, Jimmy Wilkerson honestly looked the best. The Vikes simply couldn’t block him. The right side of our offensive line looked awful. I’ll update everyone on our offensive line later today. Remember — not everybody played against the Vikes (Brian Waters, Jared, Tamba, etc…).
