Priest Holmes making a comeback?
UPDATE 4:30 CST: Priest Holmes will report to training camp in River Falls, WI this Saturday. He passed thorough examinations conducted by a group of orthopedic physicians and specialists this week in Miami, so he’s good to go medically. What I liked from this press release was this statement from King Carl, “If he’s able to come back, he understands and accepts the fact that he would have a different role than when he was the starter.” This shows me that both Peterson and Priest have their minds right when it comes to the running back situation in K.C., and that this won’t screw up the L.J. negotiations. I don’t think Peterson was implying that Michael Bennett will be ahead of Priest on the depth chart if L.J. doesn’t sign. - Kansas City Chiefs Official Site
I figured that maybe a few Chiefs check out our site from time to time. I also figured that someone from the organization had at least heard of The COAT. So when Priest Holmes made it public that he wants to be at Chiefs training camp today, it seemed like a pretty big coincidence. Is it just me, or does it seem that Priest wants to redeem himself for his loss to Willie Lanier in The COAT?
On a more serious not, if Priest is honestly considering a comeback, then I’m aboard. Barring that Larry Johnson gets signed, this would give us the best backfield in the NFL. I don’t care what anybody says, Priest would instantly be our No. 2 running back and third down back. I don’t want to get too damn excited and let myself down, but it looks like both he and the Chiefs are serious. I think this could actually happen.
Of course, the other thing that could happen is that Priest realizes he doesn’t have it any more during camp, or even that he’s too afraid of getting injured once again.
For now, cross your fingers. We’ll certainly have more on this as it develops.

July 25th, 2007 at 2:01 pmLook at the Priest Holmes M.O. guys…think about the timing (LJ holdout) and how the public and media are viewing the Chiefs (most expecting a 6-10 record).No. 31 is here, once again, to prove everyone wrong. For true lovers of the Red and Gold, this couldn't happen at a better time. I suddenly am extremely interested in this training camp!Somebody call the satellite people, I'm ordering HBO.

July 25th, 2007 at 3:11 pmThis could be the greatest backfield in the history of football, you know how we McLainiacs feel about "the Priest".
July 25th, 2007 at 3:36 pmI know. Mikey will probably draft him in the third round of our fantasy draft.
July 25th, 2007 at 3:56 pmif its yahoo. you gotta wait till the season starts they wont add him to the draft till then
July 25th, 2007 at 11:39 pmnow who has the best running backs on the same team…hahahahahaha.

And we do!
July 25th, 2007 at 11:52 pm[...] What did the five fingers say to Larry Johnson’s face?….SLAP!!!!! I don’t really know what my take is on this one. If Priest Holmes is healthy, then the Chiefs might be ok leaving Larry Johnson to twist in the wind, I don’t know. If they could sign Johnson and have Holmes on the roster, well….that backfield would just be filthy sick!! To be honest, I’m pretty stunned that the Chiefs didn’t move to lock L.J. into a long term deal at the end of the 06-07 season.
