Jeffri Chadiha, also known as Jabba the Whitlock’s “boy,” singled out Larry Johnson as the No. 1 most indispensable player in the NFL in a recent piece. That’s right; Chadiha has him listed ahead of the likes of Brian Urlacher, Peyton Manning and Tom Brady. AFC West standouts Antonio Gates and Champ Bailey also cracked the top-10 list. Here’s what Chadiha wrote about L.J.:
“1. Larry Johnson, RB, Kansas City: The Chiefs wouldn’t win three games if Johnson wasn’t available this season. He set an NFL record with 416 carries in 2006 and their offense seems to deteriorate a little more with each passing season. Right now, Kansas City likely will have a first-time starter at quarterback (second-year veteran Brodie Croyle), a depleted offensive line that lost its two best players over the past two years (offensive tackle Willie Roaf and guard Will Shields) and a corps of wide receivers that ranks near the bottom of the NFL. In other words, the Chiefs had better give Johnson the new contract he covets if they want to have any optimism about their offense this coming season.”
So L.J.’s not only the most indispensable Chief, but according to Chadiha he’s more important to his team than any other player in the NFL. That being said, why in the hell are we still paying the man like he’s the 71st best RB in the NFL when we have $16.2 million dollars to spend? Maybe Chadiha and Big Sexy do have a personal agenda when it comes to King Carl. Even so, it’s hard to argue with Chadiha’s logic here, isn’t it?
