Whitlock’s boy Chadiha backs L.J. — so do I

Now, I know some of you don’t like him, and for the most part (even though I do like him) I can see why. I also have heard all the comparisons to this guy … and this guy… and especially this guy… way too often. In fact, the whole subject has been discussed ad nauseam. Nonetheless, Larry Johnson isn’t signed and people are still debating, so…

Why not compare L.J. to this guy… or this guy… or EVEN this guy instead of the abovementioned RBs? His stats are more along those lines anyway, and while LaDainian Tomlinson is the best all-around back in the NFL, Larry “Legend in the Making” is the best pure rusher hands down. Besides, L.J.’s first 2 1/2 seasons have been better than L.T.’s were anyway. Go compare the numbers yourselves.

The bottom line is that Kansas City Chiefs have to pay L.J. That is, unless we want to trade places with the lowly Raiders. Basically, we might as well hire Art Shell Rich Kotite to coach our squad in that case. At least we’d be guaranteed the No. 1 pick.

Jeffri Chadiha, Jason Whitlock’s boy, has the perfect analysis when it comes to L.J. and his potential holdout. His rationale is much more logical than his boy Jabba’s, whose only goals in life seem to be:

A.) Be a drama king.

B.) Get King Carl fired.

Maybe Whitlock just has crown envy?

Anyway, check out Chadiha’s slant:

1. Should the Chiefs pay Johnson?

Yes. They shouldn’t give him the absurd amount that he’s coveting — reportedly in the neighborhood of $27 million or $28 million in guaranteed money — but the Chiefs need to accept that he has quite a bit of leverage here. Johnson is their best player, period. Along with amassing big-time numbers over the past two seasons (3,539 yards, 37 touchdowns), not to mention a record 416 carries in 2006, he’s the best means of keeping pressure off an offense that could be led by second-year quarterback Brodie Croyle and a young defense that remains a work in progress.

Of course, Johnson’s critics point to his boorish personality and the possibility of his body breaking down after so many carries as reasons for ignoring his demands. Those people clearly are missing the point. If being a model citizen mattered to the Chiefs, former starting quarterback Trent Green would still be with them. And if the Chiefs are worried about Johnson’s long-term wear and tear, they can structure a front-loaded deal that won’t compromise them in his later years.

The Denver Broncos did something similar with running back Travis Henry, who received $12 million in guaranteed money even though he turns 29 in October. Johnson turns 28 in November, and it’s hard to imagine the second-best back in the NFL not getting paid.

Thank you! Can we just pay the main so we don’t have to watch an L.J.-King Carl soap opera rip our team apart during Hard Knocks? I’d much rather get to see the QB battle, D-Bo and the gelling of our new-and-improved defense.

I still think Peterson will pay L.J. I liked the way he handled this situation, not to mention the rest of the offseason. Still, he shouldn’t let this linger on too much longer. The closer the Chiefs get to training camp without an L.J. deal completed, the more leverage L.J. will have and the more it will affect the team. Peterson usually wins these battles, but he’s never needed a player as bad as he and the Chiefs need L.J.

Now let’s get back to The COAT!

my problem with front loading a contract is the same reason everyone says pay him now…gezzzzz… he signed a bad deal before and now you want him to do it again… only if they include a no dropping or restructuring or in anyway allow him to control where we trade him… clause in the contract…

And waiting is up to Carl,….— lj will get a new contract, before the season and the media and fans make more out of the distraction than the players do….period
