Chiefs Fix: From hair plugs to “Roll Tide”

Jabba the Whitlock did an exclusive interview with my boy Larry Johnson. I haven’t even read it yet, so trust me, you’re still going to hear from me on this one. At first glance, I don’t even know why Larry took this interview. Fresh off a break-up with AOL, it’s obvious that Whitlock is desperate to get in the middle of King Carl – who, coincidentally, is also fresh off a break-up with his Trentie Pie — and his braintrust and L.J. More to come on both Larry’s potential holdout and Jason’s constant meddling…

For now, Chris over at Arrowhead Pride has a hilarious take on this situation. I don’t agree with Chris’ POV on Derrick Ross, though. While I do respect what he accomplished over there, it doesn’t impress me whatsoever. Mark my words — both Kolby Smith and Michael Bennett will be ahead of him on the depth chart next season. As I’ve said time and time again — Kolby Smith is going to be a stud.

Adam Teicher is back over at The Star (his new vlog). Looks like I prematurely ejaculated on that one, folks — my bad. I guess Teicher was just gone for three weeks getting hair plugs or something? That scenario makes complete sense — just look at the hat (I do like the hat, though)! Plus, he’s off again until training camp? He totally got plugs and is getting more put in. It’s OK, Adam, even Tom Cruise would look bad bald.

Steven over at Chiefs Blitz examines Brodie Croyle’s appearance on The Herd yesterday from the perspective of a Kansas City Chiefs fan. Steven was right on about Colin Cowherd, as I half expected Colin to blurt out “Roll Tide” (I hate the SEC, by the way) at the conclusion of the interview.

Lastly, I’m pretty pumped about hearing the news that my boy Ean Randolph is currently the frontrunner to win the return specialist job. Shows how much they tell Bob Gretz and Co. over at the Chiefs official site. For all you Webbheads out there, answer me this: If Jeff Webb is such a dynamic return guy, why was Randolph even brought in?

I think Ross and Smith will battle it out.  Will Kolby Smith play more FB you think?

  2. 2. Adam Says:

I don’t want to short change Ross, but I think the Chiefs have big plans for Smith. Those plans include some fullback and third-down/utility back if Bennett flops. Hell, he might even beat Bennett aka Mr. Glass out.

  3. 3. Chris Webb Says:

I agree that Ross isn't probably a factor, but I do think he's more of a factor than we all think. As Chiefs fans, we can't slough off NFL Europa anymore (well, at least until after Saturday, when the championship ends what could be the final season) after getting some of the fellas we've gotten from there. I don't expect Ross will challenge LJ for a spot, let alone Bennett or Smith, but don't factor him out yet. Things happen and camp is long. All it's gonna take is one more mysterious Bennet ding…Also, Webb's the guy for KRs because of his long strides, but that doesn't work for punts, leaving Randolph the guy. So do we drop Hannon? Really? I'll tell ya what, it'd be hard on Madden to cut down to 6 recievers with one as a dedicated returner. This is my most interesting subplot of the offseason - the WR race.Cut Sammy, bitches!-cw

And I love the SEC! My girlfriend is a UT Vol alumn so I get to tangentially use them as my college football team, since my school didn't have one.

  5. 5. Adam Says:

Webb, I agree — get Parker out of here. He's absolutely, positively me least favorite Chief now that Sims is toast. Well, he and G-Wes the Matador/Tackle-Whiffer.

Other Chris, I still hate the SEC. Not as much as I hate the Big Ten. Actually, yeah, I do hate the SEC the most. Those fans are more dellusional than MU football fans, plus they come equipped with that lazy, country-ass Southern drawl. Ugh.

    Go KSU Wildcats!

i hate the ACC and Pac 10 and Big 10. im full of hate, as you can tell. the ACC always is tremendously overrated by the worldwide leader,Pac 10 and Big 10 too. tOSU and michigan both got blown out last year in bowl games, that isnt an accident. the SEC doesnt bother me because they truly are the best football conference year in and year out. it is just a different game over there. the Big East doesnt bother me, they just stay to themselves like the Big 12. GO HAWKS!

TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Kennison, Bowe, ECK, & Tony G.no one will come in and do what (I hate this coming)…Do What D. Hall did… we just need a guy who doesnt fumble it back away,… and gets possitive yardage a majority of the time…Jabba…well like I said before people like tabloid journalism, and thats what Jabba Whitlock is Tabloidism at its worst…hahahaha,…..yes sometimes he asks tough questions and other times he blow things out of proportion and even comes close to making things up.I love that so many mixed up, missguided Kansas, Kansas St. lovers…….. like my CHIEFS from Missouri…:)))))))))))))))

here is what i said over at arrowhead pride regarding the RB situation:LJ will be the starter. duh.bennett will be the backup because if healthy, he is one of the better backups in the league. there is no way LJ carries it 400 times last season if bennett would have stayed healthy, now even if he does get hurt we have other backs for LJ to share the load with.kolby smith will share time with boomer at fullback and bennett at backup RB. kris wilson wont get much playing time at fb IMO, he will be the second TE (passing wise) and be the h-back. kolby will do a little bit of everything out of the backfield, block, run, catch, and will be a fan favorite from the get-go. i think he could be like t-rich in a couple of years, not as good of a blocker as him but an even better runner and pass catcher out of the backfield. he is our longterm answer for fullback and if boomer doesnt win the job could start there this year…derrick ross is one of my favorite current chiefs. i watched a game a couple weeks ago and it is clear he COULD be a feature back in a couple of years. maybe not a feature back per se but more like one half of a 2 back combo, like indy last year or new england or jacksonville, etc. he is quick, bounces off tackles, and can catch the ball out of the backfield. while this year he will just be the 3rd RB and not dress for most games (if he makes the team, he might go to the practice squad if we can squeeze him through) once bennett leaves ross will be the primary backup to LJ and will be for a LONG TIME COMING. like i said in my diary about him, he could very well be our michael turner in SD.one idea to clear everything up would be to trade bennett. he is hurt so often and with ross really emerging the need for a backup RB isnt there quite like it was last year. if we could get a 4th round pick or even a 5th rounder (we gave up a 4th rounder last year for him) i would be happy as we would continue to stockpile picks for the 08 draft and continue our process to get younger. a lot younger.

  9. 9. rockchalk Says:

oh yea, and about the return game. they say that webb is a better kick returner because of his long strides, so he is the frontrunner for that job but he isnt ideal for a punt returner. that is why randolph could make the team, hopefully not at the cost of hannon though.i hope that samie is the one to go…
