I’m glad to see Cherry and Thomas, two career-long Chiefs, advance. Carter, Hasty and Lewis all left the Chiefs for hated AFC West rivals, and that may have plagued them in this group. Johnny Robinson kind of got screwed, but he feel behind early and just never was a factor in the heated race for second place.
Here is the Special Teams Group:
- Jan Stenerud
- Dante Hall
- Tamarick Vanover
- Dustin Colquitt
- Jerrel Wilson
- Nick Lowry
- Gary Stills
- Bennie Thompson
- Monty Beisel
- Albert Lewis
- Bernard Pollard
- Louie Aguiar
Group breakdown coming soon…

I know all of us have loved doing our Dante bashing over the last year or so, but this guy has to advance in this category.
with this stage it will most likely be a baby Chief (new younger GUY)as the older players well they had to be on special teams…hahahahaha, most were never specialists of the special teams as they have been for the last 15 to 20 years…*SO GO NEW KIDS…hahaha*
I had to use one of my votes for Bennie Thompson
because for the two years he was here he was the greatest and craziest
special teams coverage guy I have ever seen. Other than D.T., he was
probably my favorite Chiefs player during his short tenure.
I also voted for the Human Joystick because that 2003 season was just ridiculous.
Jan's going to move on (unless Nick Lowry or Albert "the Punt
Blocking Machine" Lewis get going), so I figured I could vote for my
boy Bennie.
I was a bit surprised at the nominees for Special Team players. Stenerud is a given, Nick Lowery is probably the 2nd best PK in our history. I love Jerrel Wilson. however, he probably will not get many votes. Too bad, he was an outstanding punter. Albert Lewis is an inspired choice. People forget how good he was at blocking punts. Other choices have me scratching my head. Bernard Pollard??? WTF? one year and you get a slot here? Dustin Colquitt? Louis Aguiar??? please. Bennie Tompson? two years time??? come on. Seriously, shouldn't there be some minimum, say 4 years as a Chief before you are considered for the COAT? After one year, I am not sure you even can get a sleeve
How about a nice shiny button. lol
I only voted once, just to level the playing field as everyone knows I am correct most of the time …..lol, kidding, well not really…….
as for Hall he only had the one great year,…moving him along would be like moving Montana along for his aged, one good year he had here…wait we did that, sorry….:)
he had one great year, but his others were solid too. last year wasn't real sweet i guess, i think he was just trying to do too much. surprised to see pollard getting votes.
Thompson and Colquitt both deserve at least a shiny button!
On Pollard we were like, "well, he blocked three punts as a rookie so he's going to keep on blocking them left and right." Plus very few current Chiefs made this tourney so we wanted to get at least a few in there for our younger readers.
Picking this group was the most difficult because of the lack of concrete stats (for about half the group, that is).
By the way, we're still taking suggestions.
like you said we havent had much here……
