Just who is Jerry Mays ?

He’s the best defensive tackle ever to wear the Red, White and Gold.

He’s also one of the best defensive ends the Kansas City Chiefs ever had.

He’s a member of the AFL All-Time Team, and a seven-time All-Star (AFL and NFL).

He helped the Chiefs win a Super Bowl (not the Broncos!).

He only played for the Texans and the Chiefs — one franchise (unlike a certain ex-Chiefs D-Lineman who’s currently leading him in the voting)
The late great Jerry Mays, who like Buck Buchanan died of lung cancer over ten years ago, gave everything he had to the Chiefs organization. He was a tough, emotional leader who we will proudly always remember as a Chief. The same cannot be said for fellow The COAT DL Group competitor Neil Smith. Just something for everyone to chew on, before Smith pulls away and we move on to the next group. I really just want to make sure the AFL Chiefs are well-represented, and you should too.
And, yes, DT Dan Saleaumua is also a strong choice.

People vote the way they vote your correct…lol…and this shows it…Time spent on our team has less to do with it, other things people are looking at, maybe if they liked a player, maybe they did something during a certain game that they actually watched…as with Big Chief for example …who states he has only seen Dan Saleaumua and Jarod Allen actually play so he went with Dan…nothing wrong with that…even Dan played Canadian ballbefore coming to us in KC…we have moved along in the voting players (older), only a couple times and I am willing to predict now we only move maybe two more whom most people have not seen play…into thoughts of making the final *COAT*So does this mean people believe that if a person is in *THE HALL OF FAME*He must be the best, ….I am not sure, voting as with the US presidential stuff is never , something understandable…lol
May 30th, 2007 at 7:56 pmMays was a great D-linemanhonestly…I know, people remember what we had on our O-line when we had the *WILLS* and Watters and Wiegman and TAIT.the best arguably o-line we may ever see here in KC…EVER. And maybe to me anyways of all O-LINES ever…well fellow CHIEFS fans that was exsactly what we had on the D-Line back then, seriouslyThey were feared by others, and with the D-backs and linebackers behind them , man that made them a defence no one wanted to play.
