Trent holds a tearfest; Tynes traded

Big Chief,Totally a fan of Allen. His role at defensive end reminds me of the old days when teams prepared against Art Still coming around the end - Wide Eyed QBs like a deer in headlights. These (new and returning) linebackers start to gel and get in sync with the front 4, and with the big hitters at safety....I'm not sure anyone will be able to wipe the smile off Gunther's face!!!!!...In my earlier comment, I hadn't seen Allen had signed and thats the biggest mature step I've seen this talented young man make. While not well known nationally because of the market, I think he is well on his way to becoming one of the best in the league...just stay focused on improving. I do believe this defense is on the rise and I don't think I would be of the same opinion without Allen. He's a big piece of the puzzle.

I actually think tynes ("leftovers" great line!) will only be there for the competition with the Giants kicker already on the roster. Don't remember his name. I don't think Tynes will beat out this other kid, but I do think he is talented enough to be picked up somewhere assumming he doesn't make roster with Giants. By wk 4 of preseason, he'll be somewhere else. I was a fan of his. OK, missed FG against Indy. Playoff experience and youth. This kid will grow and probably be a better player for the experience. How much better is Dallas' QB for muffing a snap? Time will tell. He did hit some long ones and brought some huge roars to arrowhead (in my case, my living room). I wish him luck. Memory a little vague here but thought I heard somewhere he was back up QB in college....For all we know HE WILL be in Miami!!!! LOL

i like allen. i like his comments about the teammates and coaches and all that jazz. i like how he signed to be at ota's. maybe now that he got his suspension he will grow up a bit. who knows. all i know is that he has caused a lot of trouble for opponents qb's with not much help. he's an important guy to have and has took some games over in the past. i hope he stays, and makes our d-line one of the best in the league. on a side note, hows about the giants eating our left-overs.

Good comments from everyone. I'm a life long Chief fan, so here's my take:

1. Jared Allen needs to look at whats being built in KC and this defense its going to be something special (not yet there but...). He has an opportunity to be part of that. Too much going on in the player conduct arena for him to make any further mistakes OR demands. Do your job and everything will fall in place. If he doesn't grow up quickly, he will impact his time on the field and ultimately his role on the team. Compensation will come if he stays out from behind a wheel and is productive.

2. The Chiefs cannot afford to carry $7 mil on the payroll. Carl, get the Trent Green deal done. Any way you slice it, be it a first or 7th round pick even with compensation, will not hit the bottom line as heavily as a millionaire riding the pine. Use that money to set up a trade with Steelers for Faneca and shore up that offensive line (including depth)!!! Trent has been good to the Chiefs and everyone wins if a trade gets done. This is now formally a distraction as OTA's progress and camp is coming!
3. Finally, I'm not a Carl fan. Mediocrity over the years hasn't resulted in championships or rings. Certainly no Lombardi Trophy. AND the Lamar Hunt Trophy hasn't been home in far too long. In fact the rest of the division has seen it at least twice since the chiefs....If the Edwards era doesn't produce something within the next year or two (e.g. Give Brodie a shot to build something around), then Herm and Carl should be both be fired. I'm ok with the transition for now but so far all I am hearing is complaining by this team about money and not a whole lot of "we're in this together." Where are the vetrans sound bites???? What happened to last years sound bite about it being a "priveledge" to play in the NFL?

Any truth to the rumors of a straight up trade with Chicago. Alex Brown for Jared Allen?

I know, I know... Jared's young and nobody's perfect. I don't think he's appreciated enough as a player either (other than by the K.C. fans and media, and of course the Chiefs). Maybe it's because he's played on a bad defense or maybe it's because the DUIs. I realize he's frustrated... but at the same time I'm sure that if he stays out of trouble and comes back with a vengeance starting game five that Carl will make sure he gets paid.

His contract demand should have come next summer after the fact, not before it. That's my main thing. He has to prove that he's committed to the team by staying out of trouble all season long.

And like I said his comments on the team were stupid!!!

I don't have a problem with drinking. I even understand making a mistake and drinking and driving, trust me. What I have a problem with is anything that keeps our players from doing their job. What I really have a problem with is that he did it three times. That shows he is careless, especially when he is endangering other's lives. He's also disrespecting the Chiefs.

All I'm saying is this -- go out, drink, get trashed, whatever... just use all that money and make sure that someone else drives. It's just retarded not to.

and as for McBride we are keeping all four of these linemen, all four.

Allen is one of the nicest guys, when it comes to family and the way he was raised...

If drinking and accidents are a problem then we replaced a kicker with a minor problem drinking with a kicker who injured his own girlfriend
by doing the same and wrecking the car he and she were in...
(she even broke her back)
Allen my friends who throw stones has addressed his problem of drinking, as did I five years ago this June 1st.
and if Allen makes enough money then so does LJ
tell LJ to show up and play.
And as for my job I kept my driving job after my last dui, and yes I got a raise that year...really.

If Allen doesn't get a DUI this year or an incident with alcohol, and still has another double digit sack total should they pay him, or in your judging eyes should he still pay for it again longer?

I totally agree, chieffanchris! Especially considering it's a helluva lot cheaper to pay for a taxi or a limo than a DUI... not to mention a second one.

Oh come on redbeard, as much money as Allen makes how hard would it have been (after the first dui) to get someone to take his drunk butt home. You know as well as I do that he can afford a limo.

the player who doesn't even do as Wesley and fake a tackle...he just watches the play go by.

And to me LJ needs to show up and play...he knows he will get a new contract this year...so he should STAND up , and receive the recognition that PRIEST received when he was here.He gets that by showing up with the team that he is counted on to win games for.

And Allen since his daddy kicked his but has been doing ok with the drinking.

Nobody thinks LJ wont get a new contract.(this year)
