ChiefStock: WR Paul Williams

Who’s the next Marques Colston? I don’t know if there is one, but Fresno State wide receiver Paul Williams has “potential sleeper” written all over him. He would be very hard to resist if he was still available during the second day of the upcoming draft, even if the Chiefs had already picked a wideout. Here’s how I rate Williams:
| WR Paul Williams, Fresno State (6′1″, 205 lbs., 4.45 40) | “ChiefStock” Ratings: |
|---|---|
| Character | 7 |
| Size/Strength | 8 |
| Speed/Quickness | 8 |
| Hands | 8 |
| Intelligence | 7 |
| Durability | 5 |
| Playmaking | 10 |
| Jumping | 9 |
| Route-Running | 7 |
| Motor/Toughness | 7 |
| Overall Rating: | 76 |
Keep in mind that after Williams’ junior year (729 yards, 7 touchdowns) he would have been a surefire first-day pick. However, after a lackluster senior year (229 yards, 1 TD) during which he battled an assortment of injuries, questions arose about both him and his durability. After watching Williams’ clips and doing extensive research I feel that he’s severely underrated at this point. I wanted to rate him more favorably, but after last season’s poor performance there was no way I could. Still, I think he’s an electrifying player who has tremendous upside, even more than ex-Fresno State and current Chicago Bears WR Bernad Berrian, which is saying something. Check out this video of him tearing up the likes of Boise State and USC and decide for yourself.

I think he likes scoring touchdowns.
